What Customers Say About Race Installation

Every Race install is done by a professional technician, and Race doesn’t charge technician fees. Depending on your home, a crew may first bring the fiber line to the outside of your house. On install day, your technician brings fiber inside, sets up your Wi-Fi router and makes sure you’re online before they leave.

Scheduling works around you, and if your plans change, moving your appointment is easy.

Super quick (installation). The crew that came through trenched from the box to my endpoint on the exterior in less than an hour and filled in behind them almost seamlessly. The guy that installed the router and ran the line into the house was there the next day and was also in and out in probably about half an hour and did a good job identifying a fairly well hidden route to get from the endpoint to where I wanted the internal jack.

I have it for my small business. Install was fast and easy. Cheaper than Comcast. Higher speed. More reliable. Highly recommended.

Breaking_Dad Reddit, r/YubaCity
[Kyle W.] stayed in contact with me throughout the installation process to see how things were going and I’ve had no complaints. Fiber speeds are consistently fast and the whole install was pretty quick and painless.

Ulysses V. Google review
From the initial request for service to the final installation the Race delivered! Fast friendly staff who showed up on time. Internet speeds are as advertised with no issues.

The gentleman that installed our wire to the house was very courteous and made sure to clean up after himself.

What Customers Say About Race Speed and Reliability

Race is 100% fiber to the home, with plans up to 10 Gig and upload speeds that match download speeds. That matters most when your household does a lot at once: gaming, streaming, video calls and big uploads all share the same connection.

Switching over to Race Communications I constantly get advertised speeds, very low ping (when running a ping test to Google & Cloudflare – usually around 5ms) and have not had a single connection issue or experienced packet loss. I enjoy them so much I am constantly speaking with my neighbors who have not switched from Xfinity and let them know how great they have been, including the installation process that went very smooth.

Aaron B. Google review
I average 4-7ms ping (yes, single digit) and a full gig download speed. My kids game and rarely see more than 35ms ping total, even with 3 TVs streaming, 2 phones on YouTube and another PC running.

Which_Initiative_882 Reddit, r/Tehachapi
The installation went smoothly and they deliver the speed they promise. Biggest difference: an enormous jump in the upload speed. If you routinely upload large chunks of data or need a reliable high-speed uplink for uninterrupted video calls, I’d highly recommend it.

wikiphotographer Reddit, r/ChicoCA
The biggest win is stability. Race’s fiber connection has been rock-solid—no random drops, no buffering during video calls or streaming, and no ‘up and down’ issues that plague cable providers. … I’ve run speed tests regularly, and it delivers what they promise with symmetrical speeds that make uploads (like cloud backups or video conferencing) feel effortless.

Richard J. Google review
The advertised symmetrical 5 Gbps speeds are not hyperbole. The ability to upload a 200GB AI model in a mere three minutes, a task that previously consumed hours, isn’t just a convenience, it’s a paradigm shift in productivity.

The router that comes with the service is exceptionally quick and covers my entire house. It even reaches a shed in our backyard.

George R. Google review
In retrospect, Race chose great hardware compared to their competitors. I wasn’t aware that an ONTs can overheat indoors since Race’s terminal never had that problem at my previous residence.

John O. Google review
[The tech] put the Wi-Fi where it needed to be and that was a perfect place. They set it up [and] it worked perfectly.

Greg C. Google review
The cable guy showed up on time. He suggested ideas of where we could have the router. He actually listened to our opinions and concerns.

When You Need More Coverage

One router covers many homes well, but larger homes, more than one floor or thick walls can leave weak spots. Race offers two ways to strengthen coverage:

Option	What you get	Price
Mesh unit	A mesh unit that works with your Race router as one Wi-Fi network	$5/month
Whole Home Wi-Fi	Professional coverage and heat-map testing, up to two mesh units placed where your home needs them, and Race support for your router and mesh units as one network. Available in select areas.	$15/month

What Customers Say About Race Customer Support

When something isn’t working, Race’s support team works to get you back online quickly. Many Wi-Fi and connection issues can be diagnosed and fixed remotely, so you don’t have to wait for a technician. If a visit is needed, Race schedules one. You can reach support by phone or email, or through the Race CommandIQ app.

I called their customer service number about the billing, their policy grace period etc. When I called their No. the recording said one caller ahead of me. The gentleman on the phone was very courteous and explained everything. Even when I first called to install the internet a lady on the phone had patience and was very nice. I had to change the appointment time to another day and it was easy. Excellent customer service.

Thanga L. Google review
A oak tree near the fiber optic line had a massive branch come down through the line during a recent wind storm that we had in Tehachapi. I called Race Communications about 9:00 a.m. stating what had happened and by 11:00 a.m. the same day, a crew was restringing the fiber optic cable and within an hour, my Internet service was renewed.

John F. Google review
Every call was picked up by live support quickly, within a few minutes at most. … Onsite tech Aija was great; personable, efficient, and quickly diagnosed the problem. … I have never had such a responsive repair from any other provider.

Jared K. Google review

In his Google review, Doug C. described his support advisor as “professional, courteous and knowledgeable,” and said the problem was solved in minutes.

Customers also mention that Race lets them know ahead of planned maintenance, so there are fewer surprises.

Race also has excellent communication skills as they keep their customers in the loop with maintenance alerts via email. These emails often include planned dates and times that service is to be performed and whether or not fiber service will be impacted.

Room to Grow with Race

Race has no annual contracts, and moving to a faster plan is easy when your needs change. Race also upgrades eligible equipment as Wi-Fi technology improves, and sometimes reaches out first when a customer’s equipment is due for a replacement.

As the first 10 Gb residential customer in my town, I could not be more grateful about the excellent service we have received from Race Communications for almost two years now. Our internet service is outstanding and the technical support is amazing.

Sargon and Ishtar Google review
I appreciate how quickly and cheerfully your technicians and office personnel ‘come to the rescue’. In particular I appreciate the call to advise my equipment was aging and needed a no cost replacement.
