Race Communications ‘Back to School’ Backpack Giveaway 2024 Supports More than 2,100 California Families
At Race Communications, our commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond providing high-speed internet. This summer, we proudly hosted our annual Backpack Giveaways, a series of exciting events that brought together families, local organizations, and our dedicated team across multiple California locations.
From Yuba City to Tulare, Desert Hot Springs, Palmdale, and Lancaster, we distributed more than 2,100 backpacks filled with essential school supplies.
Backpack giveaways aim to ease the back-to-school transition for families in need, embodying our commitment to community support and engagement.
The highlight of this year’s giveaway was in Lancaster, where we distributed 1,000 backpacks in partnership with the City of Lancaster and other local organizations. Held at Deputy Pierre Blaine Park, the drive-thru style event was a vibrant community gathering, complete with a DJ to keep spirits high. “This is the heart and soul of Lancaster. When we come together and support one another, it’s the key factor that makes us grow.” Lancaster’s Eric Serrano, Community Engagement Coordinator said.
Our collaboration with the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce in Yuba City led to a great event during which 180 backpacks were handed out. Additional events in Tulare, supported by Altura Centers for Health, and in Desert Hot Springs, backed by the City of Desert Hot Springs, were also successful. We distributed 323 backpacks in Tulare and 283 in Desert Hot Springs.
The impact of these events was felt deeply across all locations.“If we can make the start of the school year just a little bit better, then we have served our purpose,” Aura Aguirre, AVP of Business Development & Marketing with Edwards Federal Credit Union, a partner in the Lancaster event, said “With support from partners like Antelope Valley College, Blue Shield of California, and Race Communications, we’ve been able to make this vision come to life.” Serrano said.
Events like these reflect Race Communications’ mission to support local communities through our services and by actively engaging in efforts that make a difference.
John Blizzard, Event Manager at Race Communications, spoke to the core of our commitment: “It’s important for Race Communications to give back to the various communities across California. We’re very local in nature, and these events allow us to connect with people on the ground.”
Beyond providing high-speed internet, these events are essential to our role in the communities we serve. By supporting initiatives like the Backpack Giveaway, we’re helping to alleviate some of the burdens families face, especially during the back-to-school season.
Looking ahead, Race Communications remains dedicated to continuing this tradition and finding new ways to give back in the communities we serve. We’re proud to be more than just an internet provider; we’re a partner in your community.
Stay tuned for more initiatives as we continue to support and engage with the communities that make California such a special place.
